Phra Rahu Om Chan Rian Sema, Roon Suriyan Chantra,

Nur Fabat Longya

Closely Follows The Design Of Lp Noi Coconut Phra

Rahu!

The purpose of making this batch of Phra Rahu is to

raise funds to construct a building for the Buddhayana Sri Devati Buddhist College and also to buy 20 Dialysis Machines for the Don Tum Hospital in Nakon Pathom.

This batch of Rian Phra Rahu Om Chan was made

following the design(front and back) of the widely

recognised No.1 Rahu in Thailand, Lp Noi of Wat

Srisatong.

The 5 characteristics of the way that Lp Noi's Phra

Rahu are made are based on:

1 ) "Lai Neur Mek" (cloud pattern) - Rahu is a powerful

deity conveying 3 worlds(heaven, human, hell) and

with the powers of Phra Rahu he travels by floating in the sky and with the cloud as carriers.

2) "Lai Suriyan Chantra" (sun and moon pattern) - This

basically refers to the solar and lunar eclipse or the

sun and the moon which can be seen that the pattern

under the Phra Rahu's arm. In Ramayana Literature, the sun, moon and Rahu are also brothers.

3) "Lai Nur Samut" - The power of Phu Rahu at first

was a top with a Giant and a Body of Phaya Nak

serpent. Phra Rahu is responsible for controlling the

water and wind element in Heaven, hence the design

of Phaya Nak(naga) arching left and right with a

Golden Black Body.

4) "Lai Neur Dao" (northen star pattern) - Under Phra

Rahu's arm are 4 petal flower as understood by many

collectors of Lp Noi's Phra Rahu but it is actually

known as "stars in the sky". It is known that Phra Rahu

has 3 magical powers(heaven, human, hell) and in this

case its the heaven power which is above the sky and

constellations in astrology and magical powers

affecting auspicious timings.

5) "Lai Pha Thep Tewada" (angel pattern) - this refers to the face of Phra Rahu in the Ramayana Literature.

Phra Rahu was transformed into an angel and he went

up to heaven to secretly drink the water that the angels had perfomed a ceremony on. He was discovered by the sun and the moon and they reported Phra Rahu to Phra Narai. Phra Narai threw his spear and Phra Rahu was torn into 2 pieces. As he drank the water so the top part of his body became immortal. After that incident, every time Phra Rahu encountered the sun and moon he would be angry and eat them until it became the solar and lunar eclipse.

This batch of Phra Rahu was first chanted by Lp Phel

at Wat Rang Man because he was too old to join in the

consecration ceremony at Wat Srisatong.

After Lp Phel chanted, the amulets was moved the the

8 sided pavilion of Wat Srisatong and they were blessed in a Putha Pisek ceremony attended by many

Keji Archan like:

1 ) CK Surasak Wat Pradu

2) Lp Whypon Wat Don Yai Hom

3) CK Aung Wat Sawang Arom

4) Lp Peng Wat Hom Kred

5) Phra Maha Khawa Wat Srisatong (abbot)
